What is the minimum time required to prepare for the JEE to get into the top IITs?

There is no fixed time or months required for IIT JEE preparation. While some students start early through foundation in class 8-10, majority of them begin in class 11 and prepare for JEE for two years.

To get into the top IITs, you need a minimum of 1 year to prepare for the JEE. Many students start JEE preparation from class 12, some after class 12 (drop year), and crack JEE Advanced to get admission in prestigious IITs.

This doesn’t mean you are not required to prepare for JEE early in class 8, 9, 10 or 11. The longer you prepare for JEE, the better are the chances to crack JEE Advanced with top rank.
